Let’s Talk About Red Rice!

Come to my first LIVE Black Food Fridays event!

If you’re like me, and you’ve been participating in any events in the past year, they have probably been virtual. But now that more and more people have a fair opportunity to becoming members of “Club Vaccinated”, I’m ready to do my first in-person event since starting #BlackFoodFridays a year ago. And because it’s me, you know my event has to have some learning involved! 🤓

I’m partnering with Butcher & Bee (find them on IG via the @butcherandbee handle)to present “LET’S TALK RED RICE”, sponsored by @rogerwoodfoods, @virgil_kane, @lecreuset, @redclayhotsauce, and @justinwine. At this outdoor event, I’ll be discussing the importance of rice to the Charleston area with one of the foremost experts on the subject, Glenn Roberts of @AnsonMills.

Then, I’ll talk about Red Rice—the American cousin of West African Jollof—and how I was able to work with the administration for the City of Charleston to create the proclamation for “Red Rice Day”, which Mayor Tecklenburg and City Council adopted in 2018!

TICKET INFO: Tickets are $75 each and include a three course meal and beverage pairing provide by Rick Ohlemacher, Executive Chef at Butcher & Bee. Not to mention a wonderful, insightful conversation between Glenn and I!

HOW TO PURCHASE: Via email, contact events@butcherandbee.com to request tickets today!

NOTE: To make sure everyone feels safe, and to keep contact with others to a minimum, we’re only allowing people to purchase tickets by the table. These table can accommodate between 2 and 6 people, MAX. Lastly, we’re not trying to pack the space out so, for our very first event, the ticket allotments are going to be minimal. This is less about selling out a stadium and more about creating a fun, intimate, and delicious learning environment!

More information will be provided as we get closer but I can’t wait to see y’all on May 26th!
